“Taking our Clothes Off Throughout CA”

Humboldt County Nude Beaches
Baker’s Beach: The road leading to this small beach has been closed due to a washout.
College Cove: There are two separate locations at College Cove Beach. The north section, which is easier to reach, has more clothed visitors than the south.

Los Angeles County Nude Beaches:
Public nudity was made illegal in Los Angeles County, several years ago, and there is no such thing as a legal Los Angeles County nude beach. In the past few years, a few discreet and secret locations have been used as clothing optional areas with no law enforcement harassment. These places have yet to be revealed and are not recommended considering anyone found nude in Los Angeles County can be cited. Punishment includes a stiff fine and court appearance.

El Matador, Smuggler’s Cove and Pirate’s Cove are sometimes listed in Los Angeles County nude beach lists, but these beaches are no longer frequented by nude sunbathers.

Los Angeles County Nudity Law
Los Angeles County – Ordinance 17.12.360, “Nudity and Disrobing”:

A) No person shall appear, bathe, sunbathe, walk, change clothes, disrobe or be on any beach in such manner that the genitals, vulva, pubis, pubic symphasis, pubic hair, buttocks, natal cleft, perineum, anus, anal region or pubic hair region of any person, or any portion of the breast at or below the upper edge of the areola thereof of any female person, is exposed to public view, except in those portions of a comfort station, if any, expressly set aside for such purpose.
B) This section shall not apply to persons under the age of 10 years, provided such children are sufficiently clothed to conform to accepted community standards.
C) This section shall not apply to persons engaged in a live theatrical performance in a theater, concert hall, or similar establishment which is primarily devoted to theatrical performances.

Marin County Nude Beaches:
Limantour Beach: An isolated beach at Point Reyes National Seashore.
Muir: This beach is NOT RECOMMENDED because there are too many houses nearby and law enforcement has picked up again in 2009.
RCA: Hard to get to, but plenty of room with plenty of recreational activities besides sunbathing.
Red Rock: May be the most popular nude beach in San Francisco.
Rodeo Beach: The only nude beach in the Marin Headlands that faces the Pacific Ocean.
Sculpture Beach: Reachable only at low tide. Stunning sunsets and scenery.

*The beaches below are NOT RECOMMENDED because of bad trails or other dangers and discomforts. They are included as informational purposes only because our sources may reference them as clothing optional beaches.

Black Sand Beach: Received it’s name for its dark colored sand
Bolinas Beach: Named after the nearby small town, Bolinas, which is famous for its attempts to prevent people from finding it. Rumor has it that Bolina residents set up booby traps along the back roads to keep visitors away.
Bonita’s Beach: Two closely located beaches in the Marin Headlands, Central Bonita and West Bonita
Cross Rock Beach: Backup Nude beach for when Red Rock gets crowded, others will try Cross Rock instead
Kirby Cove: One of several Marin Headlands beaches whose trails are damaged or closed
Steep Ravine Beach: Unattractive and Cold. The trails are extremely dangerous and not recommended to anyone without proper climbing gear.

Monterey County Nude Beaches:
The Crater: Located near Edgewater Mall in Seaside. Large sand dunes hide it from public view.
Garrapata Beach: A very nice beach with beautiful scenery
Marina State Beach (Indian head): Presently a State Beach which was once a part of (now-decommissioned) Fort Ord.
North Marina Beach: A very nice beach with a long history of common use by its local residents
Pfeiffer Beach: Famous for sunsets, but it often too cold to disrobe. The number of places in Big Sur with “Pfeiffer” in their names can be confusing. This one is found on federal land in Los Padres National Forest and is rather than in any of the state beaches with that name.

Thank you for your patience while we update this page; please stay tuned for more Nude Beach Listings throughout the State of California
